My favorite plant scientist, Andy Funk, has just joined the Plant//People blog team! We've also moved to a new domain, plantpeopleblog.com. I [Anna] will keep posting about plants (and more) in the natural world, and academic life as an ecologist. Andy will broaden our ponderings with his perspectives on plant genetics, crops, and the more lab-based side of plant academia.

We'll label our posts with [Anna writes...] or [Andy writes...] so you know who's talking. We may even have more guest contributors in the future! Stay tuned, exciting times are ahead!

Sick day doodles

I was home sick yesterday with some sort of cough/cold/flu virus that made my brain very cloudy, and some prescription cough syrup that made my brain even cloudier. I wasn't getting much work done, and settled on updating my webpage (minimum brain power required).

After massive upgrades to annagroves.com (yay!!) and to a better Weebly site editor, I found out I could replace the Weebly "W" icon with whatever I wanted. If you're reading this in Chrome right now, the "W" would have been up on your tab next to "Anna Groves - Hysterical Contingency." It would also have been on your bookmark toolbar, since I KNOW you've bookmarked this blog for easy access in the future.

Welcome to my neeeeewww blog! I've always thought writing a blog would be fun, but never felt like I had anything interesting to write about. However, my brain has lately begun to approach its capacity for new ideas, new realizations, and plans for new endeavors-- so here's to hoping writing them out will ease some mental pressure (and maybe even be interesting to someone else, too)! Besides, "they" always tell me that setting aside time to write is a good thing to do.
